Our Driveway Paving Process
Whether you’re an existing customer wanting to learn more or a potential customer interested in our process before you get in touch, we outline all three steps of our asphalt driveway installation process to make it easier for everybody. As a local driveway paving company with decades of experience installing driveways throughout St. Paul and Hudson, we strive to be as transparent as possible, from warranty to process to costs - our only concern is ensuring you get the driveway you’ve been looking for. Get in touch with us to discuss your options, we work with existing driveways (concrete or asphalt) and install new asphalt driveways from March to October, weather permitting.
After that, you’re just three visits away from a new driveway:
1 - Free Quote
Afer submitting your request for a free quote, we’ll have one of our professional asphalt consultants contact you within 24 hours to schedule some time to come out.
During this initial visit, we’ll answer any questions or concerns you may have and then provide you with a free comprehensive driveway installation quote. As experienced asphalt pavers, we can also offer suggestions and design guidance to make your driveway better serve your needs - aesthetically or functionally.
Note: we request at least one homeowner be onsite for this quoting process so we can discuss cost breakdowns and options. Plus, we just like getting to know our customers!
2 - Driveway Prep Work
This prep work is absolutely vital to ensuring the durability of your new driveway - we actually do our jobs so well that our driveways last upwards of 30 years with proper maintenance. So, during this visit our crew will:
- Remove old concrete or asphalt
- Create additions
- Add new base materials (as needed)
- Grade and compact soil
Note: we will need your driveway and immediate area on the street free of vehicles for the duration of this visit. After we’re done with the above, you’re free to use your driveway - though your car will be exposed to the base layer, so use caution.
3 - Asphalt Paving
Typically, we wait anywhere from a few days up to two weeks between prep work and paving. This is because Minnesota and Wisconsin weather can fluctuate on a dime, especially if you schedule your installation earlier or later in the season. We’ll communicate all aspects of our paving schedule throughout the process so you know exactly when we’ll come out.
During this last visit, our asphalt contractors will pave the prepped space with both an asphalt paving machine and hand tools for tight spaces. Paving your driveway will take 3 hours, after which you won’t be able to drive on the surface for 3 days.
Other important things to note:
- You can walk on the driveway the following day
- You can drive across the driveway into your garage after 3 days
- You can park on your new asphalt driveway after 2 weeks (we highly recommend waiting this long to ensure your driveway has had ample time to cure)
